We are a clog wearing family. A lot of people wear them here in Sweden and lately the strappier 70's versions have become fashionable again. Here's our current collection.
Ours have nothing to do with fashion. They are what we wear when we leave the house and go outside into the garden and into the garage.
This is the way the start out. Neat, black and not too comfortable. We each have a fairly new pair, it's Wille's first but Martin's and mine gazillionth. I have three pairs altogether at the moment and Martin two.
Here's my "middleaged" pair. Much more comfortable at this stage. Not very pretty though.
I have worn clogs as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl I got a new pair every spring and it was important to get that year's "it" color. One year it was yellow and orange flower print, another year dark blue with the strap in white. There was a white version one year with little tiny holes and then being the 70's there was the platform version which was banned at my school because of too many sprained ankles. I also remember a tan suede and a tanned regular leather version too. For a while it was cool to have the heels ground super thin. We used to pull off the rubber soles and then ride our bikes downhill and grind the heels off on the sidewalk. I was down to 5 mm (1/4") until the end broke off. Cool...
After a while, quite a long while, the clogs look like this. To an onlooker they ought to be tossed immediately. The thought has crossed my mind but this is the stage where they are at the most comfy... Not much use in the garden unless you have a thing for wet feet, but they are still good enough for the garage. Well maybe not really but for some reason they are really hard to get rid off.
I know the dutch are big on clogs too but do any of you in other countries wear them too?
