Today it's raining and it's dark and I got really, really wet on my way home from work. Martin bought Glögg and I'm drinking some now. Mmmm...
For those of you who aren't from Sweden, Glögg is a traditional hot beverage which we drink around the holidays. It's mulled wine and you add almonds and raisins and it goes well with gingerbread. If you add blue cheese on your gingerbread, even more delicious.
The French and German equivalents are Vin Chaud and Glüh Wein but Glögg is sweeter. In Sweden we can't buy alcohol in regular shops but must go to government regulated shops, Systembolaget . Every year besides from the regular Glögg they issue a special limited edition one and this year's flavor is blueberry. It doesn't really taste anything like blueberry if you ask me but it's a little less sweet than the regular kind which I like.
I'm curious about what kind of hot cozy drinks you have in your countries. If any. I realise that where some of you are living it's mostly warm weather and hot drinks are probably not necessary?!
Please do post recipes if you have a favourite, I'd love to try!
Besides from drinking Glögg I'm so excited that it's Friday and two days of weekend ahead! I just got a new camera which I'm eager to try out (these photos were taken with my old one though), the diningroom cabinet is getting a makeover inspired by Anna and I'm hoping to have a little bit of time to get some new stuff together for my sadly neglected Etsy shop. I also want to sew a winter seat cushion case for the bench in the hallway and some pillow cases from an Anna Maria Horner fabric which I unecpectedly found right here in Stockholm.
Have a great weekend!
