Karin asked to see our lamps and lampshades. What better time than now? It's so dark outside so they're in full use everywhere around the house.
Have to say I'm not a big fan of over head lights. We do have them but I refer to them as the cleaning lights. I turn them on when I have to and never keep them on unnecessarily. This is where Martin and I differ. He keeps turning them on and I keep turning them off, like a weird game. Most of the over head lights we have are vintage globe one's which go well with the age of our house.
In the kitchen we went more industrial though and there's also a Garland in the hallway.
I do love what's called ambiance lighting though. I call them cozy lights. When I get up in the morning I turn on about five different little lamps and add more when I get home from work. The lamps I choose are mostly white. Yes, it's true! I go for simple white shades and prefer drum shapes over more cones. As for bases I go for metal or white and usually stick to simple shapes.
There are some exceptions though like the home made design of Wille's map lamp...
...and fun fleamarket finds like the one's in the bedroom.
The lamp above the dining table is on a dimmer. A complete necessity as the halogen bulbs are so bright that a surgeon would find the table underneath completely adequate for appendix removal.
Those are some of our lamps. What are your thoughts on overhead lights vs cozy one's?
