After the holidays I grew tired of the cube shelves in the livingroom. At the moment they are in storage but they may pop up somewhere else around the house later.
In their place I've hung a 70x100 cm (27"x39") canvas. To begin with it was just blank for a couple of weeks until I could decide what to do with it. Then I went for green. Lovely green but it ended up clashing with the other greens in the room. So I repainted it white. And now yellow. Hmmm.
Any which way I kind of like the idea of being able to add a fairly large bit of color to a room without having to repaint a wall. It's an alternative to paint color swatches straight on to a wall too. And for those of you who rent it way be a way to introduce color when you're not allowed to paint.
If the size canvas you want isn't available ready made you can usually have a frame custom made in your size and canvas stretched onto it in an art store. Or if you're crafty you can build your own frame.
Oh, and the little cute framed piece on the mantle is by Cosas Mínimas.
