One project down, a million more to go. I finished fixing up the shoe cubbies the other day. I also repainted all the trim in that part of the hallway. You can see the yellowed verion in the entrance hallway just to the right. That will be another project. Also still to do is paint the outside of that little window and the doors to the bathroom and stairs.
I built the shoe cubbies years ago and it was in need of repainting. In retrospect I also realised that a chunkier top would look better...
... so on the day before Martin and Wille went to Greece Martin helped me fit a second MDF board on top of the old one.
Here's a before shot where you can see why the unit was in need of repainting. This was taken after sanding though so it hasn't really looked this bad, but there were some bumps where wet shoes had raised the grain of the MDF slightly.
This time I decided to paint the back wall too. Last time I left the wall paint behind there but I knew it would look neater AND be easier to paint it all in one go as opposed to trying to stay off the wall. I caulked the edges and gaps so it would look even better.
And here is the finished all white result. Love it! It's a shame I have to put shoes in it.
Oh. and Happy 4th of July (somewhat in advance) you guys over in the States. Have a good one!
